Welcome to the 1 Point Tattoo blog page. We are a custom tattoo shop, owned and established by Simon Halpern, operating in the heart of Kailua, Oahu, for the past ten years. Simon has placed particular emphasis on the quality of his art, meticulously shaping and evolving his style year after year: naturally weaving geometric designs into large-scale layouts inspired by the flow of Polynesian tattoo pieces, common to Hawaii where he’s spent his entire career and first learned to tattoo, 19 years ago.
Joining him is Hunter Schuon, a talented tattooer and artist who has been pushing his craft at 1 Point for the past two years. Originally hailing from New York, he’s been tattooing for 9 years and has an eye for flow and detail in his layouts. He can go anywhere but often likes to use well-placed pattern work to border his large, incredibly detailed, black and gray imagery. His large-scale Japanese work is just as bold and well executed – lettering, American Traditional, you name it: he’s a workhorse who tattoos with intention and loves to work with his clients to create great art, day in and day out.
We strive to be a well-rounded tattoo operation – so not only do we put tattoos on, but we take them off as well. Laser removal technology and accessibility have made great strides over the years, creating and marking a safe and effective standard for removal in the tattoo culture and industry. Wielding her Astanza laser, our one-woman laser department/shop manager/do all dynamo, Kristine Le-Esposito, keeps us on point and unwanted tattoos off her clients’ skin. Incredibly experienced and knowledgeable, her 8+ years behind the laser machine have opened countless new pathways to her (previously dissatisfied) clients. She quickly and expertly assesses each new removal situation and gets those unwanted tattoos light enough to cover or gone completely, much to the delight of her clientele.
This lifestyle/career path is essential for all of us here at 1 Point Tattoo, we’re very humbled and grateful to be a part of it. We’ve been making tattoos for a long time, now we’d like to talk about it a little more. We’ll end this inaugural blog entry with our official shop mission statement and persistent, daily goal: “Building relationships through art”.
Mahalos everybody,
1 Point Tattoo
